VACANCY - Teaching Assistant Level 2 working with up to 4 children with additional needs/ EHCP

Our Den provision has been set up to support the needs of pupils with SEND. The majority of pupils who access our Den provision have an EHCP outlining the support they need. Staff in the Den work under the direct supervision of the SENDCo delivering the curriculum planned by the class teachers. In addition, staff are expected to provide activities that enable pupils to make progress towards their EHCP targets. 

The successful candidate will join the Den team working alongside other TAs in the delivery of this provision. The position is to support up to 4 pupils with a range of needs. You will be joining a supportive team who understand the demand and complexities of this role. Additional training and coaching are provided to ensure career progression and also that you are equipped with the necessary skills to effectively support these pupils.

 

Curriculum support:

  • Deliver the lessons and activities planned and resourced by the children’s teachers.
  • Undertake agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses.
  • Create clear but flexible routines within the Den provision that supports the needs of the children
  • Plan activities to meet specific EHCP targets under the supervision of the SENDCo


Support for pupils:
  • Support the children in the den e.g. explain tasks, reinforce key objectives/concepts or vocabulary, use practical apparatus, keep pupils on task, interested, motivated and engaged.
  • Help pupils to develop communication and social skills within the Den
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, encourage them to interact and work co-operatively and engage in activities.
  • Promote independence and development of self-esteem
  • Assist with the review and implementation of the plans each child has
  • Encourage and reinforce positive interactions between pupils in line with the school’s relational policy
  • Identify and report uncharacteristic behaviour patterns
  • Assist with pupil supervision on trips off the premises, under overall guidance of the teacher.
  • Monitor and provide for general care, safety and welfare of pupils, including tasks connected with their social inclusion and personal/physical care
  • Explore and promote opportunities for pupils to learn with their peers in their classroom
