House Captains

Democracy in Action - Our new House Captains
At Wood End primary school, we understand and promote British Values, one of these values is democracy. We are lucky to live in a country where everyone who is eligible has the right to vote. Children may witness their parents voting in local and national elections but this week we gave them the same opportunity to take part in our own democratic election in school. All the children in year 6 were given the opportunity to plan, prepare and present a speech to explain why they would be the best person to lead their house team. Children across school voted for the person they wanted. Like the real election, the votes were done in secret and the result was unknown until today.

Today there was an air of excitement, anticipation, and a few nerves during the lead up to the announcement. I have to say how proud I was of all the children who delivered speeches which were well thought out with clear messages delivered to their team. Unfortunately, there can only be one winner for each house team.
I am pleased to announce that our new House Captains are:

Kingsbury (Blue) -   Cruz

Baddesley (Red) - Heidi

Birch Coppice (Yellow) - Billy

Daw Mill (Green) - Poppy

Congratulations to these children and I look forward to working with you during the year.
